Who we are and what we stand for.
Who we are:
We are a group of men and women working towards an egalitarian society. We focus on the needs and issues of MEN and BOYS (in the same way as many organizations focus on the needs and issues of other groups with shared characteristics like Ethnic Background, Sexuality, Disability, Age Group.)
Our purpose:
- Creating a forum for exchange of ideas and collaboration between organisations and individuals that work on issues that affect men negatively.
- Creating “Task Forces” to address specific, often current issues
- Establishing that “for men” never meant “against women” and never should
- Reaching out to media, councils and government to create change towards a fairer society
- Reaching out to those who unintentionally and intentionally perpetuate inequality to create discourse and hopefully an adjustment in direction
What we stand for:
- A respectful attitude towards men and women
- Equality before law and Equality of opportunity in society for men and women)
- Note: Our focus on MEN’s issues does not oppose WOMEN’s needs, because these equalities can only be achieved from both sides
- Respectful and constructive discourse between men and women and those who campaign for them
- We support MEN’s advocacy if it does not create disadvantages for women compared to men
- We support WOMAN’s advocacy if it does not create disadvantages for men compared to women
- We oppose hate, anger and revenge and promote respect, understanding and healing
- We oppose discrimination against men and boys, women and girls
Working with others:
- Our main focus of collaboration will be with individuals, groups and organisations that focus on men’s issues from an egalitarian point of view
- We will closely work with academics, professionals and experts in areas that we focus on.
- We are willing to work on a specific issue with individuals, groups and organisations even if they do not share all of our core values. However, the aim, process and outcome of the collaboration needs to be in line with our values.
- We are happy to interact with individuals, groups and organisations with opposing views if the interaction is based on good faith and the establishing of common ground and greater equality.
